In this article we will formulate a Florida Panthers vs Edmonton Oilers prediction for NHL game 6 on Friday, June 21st at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta. To formulate this prediction for game six in the series, we will examine:

Panthers Have No Momentum

The Florida Panthers have had two chances to close out Edmonton in this series, but they have been unsuccessful and will play a huge game six here. Florida lost game five at home by a score of 5-3, despite dominating the third period. The Panthers fell behind 3-0 and 4-1 in the second period, but they did cut the lead to 4-3, before Edmonton added an empty net goal. Florida recorded 32 shots on goal, 44 hits, and went 0-3 on the power play in the loss.

Florida won the first three games in this series by scores of 3-0, 4-1, and 4-3, but they have allowed 13 goals in the last two games. The Panthers defeated the Lightning, Bruins, and Rangers in the first three rounds. Florida is scoring 3.18 goals per game, while going 19.7% on the power play and 87.5% on the penalty kill. Matthew Tkachuk has led Florida with six goals, 16 assists, and 81 shots on goal, while Aleksander Barkov has added seven goals, 14 assists, and 54 shots.

Oilers are Riding High

The Edmonton Oilers were down 3-0 in the series and they looked hopeless, but two consecutive victories have put them right back in this series. Edmonton won game four at home by a score of 8-1, then won game five on the road by a score of 5-3. The Oilers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in game five and they were able to barely hang on for the win. Edmonton recorded 24 shots on goal, 16 hits, and went 2-5 on the power play in the win.

Edmonton defeated the Kings, Canucks, and Stars in the first three rounds of the postseason. The Oilers are scoring 3.48 goals per game, while going 30.6% on the power play and 93.8% on the penalty kill. Connor McDavid has led Edmonton with eight goals, 34 assists, and 73 shots on goal, while Leon Draisaitl has added six goals, 26 assists, and 66 shots.

Starting Goalies

The projected starting goalie for Edmonton is Stuart Skinner, who is 13-8 this postseason with a 2.54 goals against average and an .898 save percentage. The projected starting goalie for Florida is Sergei Bobrovsky, who is 15-7 with a 2.35 goals against average and a .906 save percentage.

Florida Panthers vs Edmonton Oilers Prediction

Edmonton comes into this matchup with all of the momentum, and they will be at home, where they have been very good this season. The Oilers have out scored Florida by a total of 13-4 in the last two games, and Bobrovsky’s confidence has to be pretty low coming into this game. Edmonton has absolutely dominated the special teams in this series, as their penalty kill has generated a couple of goals and their power play is finally starting to get going. I know Edmonton is an extremely popular pick in this game, but I don’t see how we can go against them here. The Oilers are rolling offensively and Skinner is playing with confidence. My Florida Panthers vs Edmonton Oilers prediction is for Edmonton to win and force a game seven.
